Shuyan and Tong met when they were students. They first met at a Buffet place in Chapel Hill. They remembered that the food was terrible but they had a great conversation. One month later at 2 am, when Tong finished his research experiment and left the office, he realized Shuyan was still studying at the Davis Library for her exams. Tong asked Shuyan if she needed a ride and she said yes. A couple of months later, Shuyan and Tong were together at the end of the Chinese New Year. They have been together for over 2135 days until Tong proposed to Shuyan at Hawaii island (and she said Yes). 

 

Tong studies trees and climate change at a research university while Shuyan works on Hemophilia in the Pharmaceutical industry. They both love beaches and mountains and those are the reason why Tong chooses the proposal location in Hawaii. Tong and Shuyan want to become a power couple in the coming years!
